  Dear Salomon, Silvia, Nicolas, Gabriel, and the entire Guggenheim family,

  I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved mother, Raymonde. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. In spite of the fact that mom lived a great life up to age 95, there’s truly nothing like the unconditional love she had for all of you. Mom will be dearly missed.

  Over the many years I’ve known your family—as a colleague, a friend, and a fellow traveler through so much of life—I don’t think there was ever a conversation with you, Salomon, where I didn’t ask about your mother and how she was doing. It was always clear how present she was in your life, and how much she mattered—not just as a parent, but as a constant source of connection and grounding.

  As general counsel to Thunderbird, I had the privilege of traveling with you and the family across several continents. Those unforgettable experiences blurred the line between professional and personal in the best possible way, and they gave me a window into the values that define your family—values that clearly trace back to your mother.

  I feel especially close to Nicolas and Gabriel, having known them since they were born. Watching them grow into the men they are today has been a quiet privilege, and it is impossible not to reflect on the role their grandmother played in shaping the family they carry forward. I am sure Nicolas and Gabby will dearly miss their beloved grandmother.

  Raymonde lived a long and fulfilled life, and her legacy is evident in all of you—in your strength, your closeness, and your humanity. While her loss is deeply felt, her presence endures in the family she nurtured and the lives she touched.

  Please know that you are in my thoughts during this time. I hope you find comfort in one another and in the enduring memory of a life so well lived. I regret not staying in touch with you Salomon as life’s twists and turns take us away from what means the most. But as they say we are close enough to talk and write to each other without missing a beat.
